So, okay. Everyone at Gocomics.com is trying to holler at the screen that Haiku needs to feed Scott rats and mice. But, I can’t figure out how to convince Scott to go back to eating mice (he has before!) when he’s been enjoying delicious chicks.
This is me (Big Al, the gal) with my son Luc! We call him the Chubby Lion. He’s chubby and he has a low raspy voice.
It was fun to introduce him to our beloved ocean.
He loves the ocean! Yay!
Uh oh. Gotta run. He just woke up!! )
Today’s Haiku Ewe features our favorite tiny lamb asleep. I must admit I stole the pose from a photo of my sweet son sleeping … like a tornado. It’s one of my favorite photos of him and it always makes me chuckle.
I have been wanting to add some bite (please pardon the pun) to this comic strip for a long time. Finally, I threw caution to the wind and voila: Scott ate a bird.
Sure the bird was cute, but frankly I think cows and birds get a lot better PR than they deserve. I see birds [...]
Snakes. Eat. Rats. That is so nasty. However, it also provides for a fun comic strip character. Scott, the snake, and Haiku Ewe have found a very special friendship in each other.
We shall see how that friendship develops in the coming days and weeks. And maybe they’ll go on an adventure together? Perhaps said adventure [...]
A new character seems to be slithering his way into the comic strip. He is a non-venomous California King snake. They are quite common up in Paso Robles.
I love the new character. I do. It’s just that researching snakes is hard for a cartoonist who is afraid of snakes. Make no mistake, I am not [...]
Some mean dude who’s screen name I will keep to myself posted a very mean comment on gocomics the other day:
“It’s been a slice, somebody holler if this ever gets funny or worthwhile”
This on the day Haiku Ewe bumps into a snake. But still, I’m a cartoonist. And when you prick a cartoonist, does she [...]
It sounds like something that happened at a strip club, but it’s actually okay to keep Timmy in the room. Uclick/Gocomics/Universal sent out templates for “toppers” and “badges” for our comic pages. I think they tried to dumb down the terms “banner” and “button” for cartoonists who tend not to top the IQ test charts.
Don’t [...]
Altruism has its pros and cons. My husband read that it actually takes our brains several seconds longer to process kindness than anger. That explains so much about the 405!
This week and last, Haiku Ewe wrestled with her natural sheep inclination to live for the day and look out for number one when she stumbled [...]
Idaho – The Bears
Lisa and I visited The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. I wish it were called just The Grizzly Discovery Center because that would sound more grim on t-shirts, but alas…
In the morning, we saw a bear who was over 500 lbs. Wow. Glad there were a lot of obstacles between her and [...]
Idaho is a fascinating place. Nature has created such beauty there that I think the artists get intimidated and choke up (see right). Idaho’s air is crisp and her skylines are devoid of the brown stripe we work hard not to see in L.A. The golden hills, the vast fields and the jagged mountains fill [...]
Last week, my sister and I met in Idaho to visit Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park and the International Dance and Music Festival in Rexburg. Serentipitously, we were on the same connecting flight from Salt Lake City to Idaho Falls (btw, if you are ever in the Idaho Falls airport, be sure to eat [...]
Monsters of Webcomics opens to the public this Saturday, August 8, and will run through December 6 here at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. You can find the full press release for the exhibition here.
Hooray! I just slapped a post up quickly Sunday night after I arrived back home from Idaho. I am [...]
